Bentley Bowrider
 Adopted 10/01/22 Deceased 12/23/25 |
Bentley crossed the Rainbow Bridge early this morning. He became lethargic on Sunday but improved after a visit to our vet yesterday but after dinner, he began vomiting and his condition worsened overnight. We went to the ER vet at 4 AM. The ER vet thinks Bentley was experiencing internal bleeding due to hemangioma tumor rupture. After some very difficult discussions between the ER vet and our family, we decided it would be best to let Bentley pass to the next life, rather than subject him to extensive testing, surgery, and possibly chemotherapy.
We thoroughly enjoyed our short time (3+ years) with Bentley. He was better than any security system = he barked at all delivery drivers, garbage trucks, cars and people passing our house, we always knew when someone was around. Bentley was a champion at dog walks- he was always in the lead and even pranced on our daily walks. He became friends with our outside cat Morris, even tolerating occasional grooming sessions from the cat. Bentley was beloved by the staff at the grooming salon and the day camp at PetSmart.
It will take time to adjust to life without Bentley. The house will be quiet, the blankets will stay neatly folded, and the sofa cushions will not be pushed to the floor. Thank you for trusting us to take care of Bentley. |

Timmy Timburr
 Deceased 12/19/25 |
Our Timmy Wheels, foster fail for over 8 years crossed the 🌈 bridge today. He was paralyzed, before we got him, but learned to run on his front legs and experience the world. Although I am heartbroken and will miss those sweet eyes looking up at me, I know he is running on all 4 tonight. Run buddy run 💔 |

 Adopted 05/16/14 Deceased 12/12/25 |
Our sweet magical werewolf was reunited with Roxy last Friday. 😞 We had 11.5 awesome years together, that went by so quick. I'll miss everything about you my girl, even that sassy "smile" you loved to give. Until our souls meet again, we love you forever 🖤 |

Queenie Quadrucci "Queen Bee"

We sadly had to let Queen go today. She was in kidney failure again despite having weekly fluids. But she had a great day laying in the sun before her appointment. |

Alvin Alyssum "Jack"
 Adopted 06/15/24 Deceased 12/05/25 |
Sad news. We had to put Jack to sleep this morning. He had breathing problems related to previous heartworm lung damage. He was on several meds and under constant care. Please know he had the absolute BEST of everything we could give him, and he gave us love 💕 beyond measure. He was my constant companion by day and slept by my side every night. I held him and cried my heart out this morning and am still in tears. I know it was the right decision but it is hard to be without him. He was SO much a part of who I am! He was definitely destined to be “my boy.” We could not let him suffer; labored breathing was so difficult to watch. Once we recover (I will forever miss him) and can breathe easier myself, I would like to adopt again. Just can’t imagine my life without a dachshund by my side. Please share this with his foster mom who was phenomenal with him. She took such good care of him and I admire her. Thanks for all the work you do to give dachshunds the best possible life! |

Chrissy Cricket "Abby"
 Adopted 09/14/19 Deceased 11/19/25 |
Abby was a little bundle of love. She had the sweetest disposition for everyone. She loved her adopted sister. She was also one of the neatest little dogs I have ever seen. We miss her very much. |

Bella Ballerina "Lulu Bella"
 Adopted 08/25/23 Deceased 11/16/25 |
Today we had to let Lulu go. She was an old girl with Cushings. She had another bout of vertigo and crashed badly overnight. She was suffering and we love her too much to let that happen. Run pain free our little Lulu Bella💔 |

I adopted our beautiful and spicy little Luna (Martha May Whovier) from you back in 2015. I am sad to say she crossed the rainbow bridge in November of 2025. Her sister Lucci and I are still healing but are ready to welcome another sister to love. |

Nemo Ney
 Adopted 06/09/18 Deceased 10/31/25 |
Today, I want to honor and remember my sweet Nemo — my best friend, my companion, and truly a piece of my heart.
From the moment Nemo came into my life, everything felt brighter. His love was pure, his joy contagious, and his loyalty never wavered. No matter what kind of day I was having, Nemo was always there — tail wagging, eyes sparkling, reminding me that I was loved beyond measure.
He didn't need words to comfort me; a look, a paw, or a gentle nudge was enough. He had a way of knowing exactly what I needed — a friend to play with, a shoulder to cry on, or simply quiet company.
The house feels different now. Quieter. Emptier. But in every corner, I still feel him — in the memories, in the laughter he brought, and in the deep love that will never fade.
Nemo taught me what unconditional love truly means. He gave me everything he had — his trust, his heart, and his life — and all he ever asked for in return was love.
Though he's gone from this world, I know his spirit is still here with me. I imagine him running free and happy, across the rainbow bridge, tail wagging just like always — waiting for the day we'll meet again.
Thank you, Nemo, for being my light, my comfort, and my joy. You'll live forever in my heart. I'll love you always. 💔 |

Summer Seuss
 Adopted 05/16/15 Deceased 09/19/25 |
I’m sad to share that our sweet girl Summer passed away September 19, 2025.
Summer had chronic kidney disease, among a few other health issues, for about 6 months. At 14 years old, her body could no longer fight. Summer was such a sweet and loving girl, and our house is not the same without her. She loved walks with mom every day and was well known around the neighborhood. We treasured our 10 years with her.
Thank you Dream for connecting us with Summer! Keep up your awesome work. |

Flynn Flannigan
 Adopted 04/19/13 Deceased 09/13/25 |
Flynn finally left my side this past Saturday. I could tell he was suffering and ready to go. I called Lap of Love and they sent the most compassionate wonderful vet to help him pass on. I’m still crying as write this. I can assure you, your organization found Flynn the best home ever. He was so loved for so long. I would lay next to him and put ice cubes in my hand so he could lick them. My vet would always ask if he was still eating? I'd kind of chuckle and say "Of course he’s eating. I cook him fish the way he likes it and I sit next to him on the sofa and hand feed him". I still have a video of him at your Dachtoberfest. Thank you so much for doing what you all do. |

Kendrick Klondike "KK"
 Adopted 09/29/17 Deceased 09/05/25 |
Kendrick Klondike. Oh what a special boy he was. Kendrick had so many names and would answer to each of them. Sir K, Sir Kendrick, KK, Special K or Handsome Red. Kendrick was our first foster failure, after putting him through heart worm treatment and seeing him come alive and turn into such a happy healthy boy he had stolen our hearts. He was a blanket boy who loved all the blankets. Kendrick was a wonderful squirrel patrol boy rain or shine. Kendrick and Lasso where definitely bonded and loved one another and best friends from the start. Everyday they started the day together and ended the day together. Lasso definitely loved his brother KK. |

Elvis "Mr. Peabody"
 Adopted 03/13/14 Deceased 08/28/25 |
We lost Mr. Peabody last week and it broke our hearts. He was fine in the morning when we started for our usual walk, but we quickly realized something wasn’t quite right. By the afternoon, he was unable to walk. An ultrasound revealed he had developed a tumor on his adrenal gland which was causing a build-up fluid in his body cavity. We were heartbroken to have to say goodbye. Priscilla, his bonded partner who we adopted at the same time, is very sad and misses her fur buddy. Thank you for bringing such beautiful blessings into our lives.
My dearest Peabody. Nothing can measure the emptiness in our home and hearts. Priscilla is still looking for you. You were special. We'll always love you. |

Roman Rocketship "Norman"
 Adopted 03/06/19 Deceased 08/24/25 |
Today Sir Norman the Brave, Noble and Just Knight of Crestwood met his demise on the Battlefield of Webster. He fought bravely, but the enemy was too strong, and he succumbed. May his colors and banner hang proudly in the halls of Saint George's Chapel, and may his tale of bravery be told through time. As for his Lady, she will forever miss him. Godspeed my little Knight. |

Duke Docking
 Deceased 08/10/25 |
I had the honor, and the total privilege, of being Dukie's foster mom for nine days. He quickly became a full-fledged member of our household, and I knew that he would be a "Foster Fail" because he fit in perfectly. No way was he leaving! We had decided to start him on chemo for his cancer that next week, but God had other plans for my boy. It was a very sad day indeed when we had to make the decision for him to cross the Rainbow Bridge. He will be forever in my heart. |

I'll always remember you and cherish every single moment we shared. Your memory will live on forever in my heart.
You were taken too soon, but you gave me the most beautiful memories I could have ever asked for. I'll never forget you. Rest in peace, my beautiful angel. I love you forever. 💔🐾🕊️ |

 Adopted 03/02/18 Deceased 07/13/25 |
Our first DREAM dog, sweet Samson, aka Sandor, crossed over yesterday afternoon. He was the best dog ever.💔😢 The years and multiple conditions finally became too much. He took his yard patrol duties seriously until the end. He was also a great couch snuggler. We’re so grateful to DREAM for the time we had with our boy. ❤️ |

Pookie Pukashell "Pooki"
 Adopted 04/01/19 Deceased 07/06/25 |
It is with a heavy heart that I announce Pooki passed away peacefully in his sleep early this morning after a short battle with cancer.
He seemed fine yesterday with no discomfort, ate well, took his meds without a fuss, etc. When I woke up this morning he had already passed in his sleep with the ball his foster gave him the day we picked him up at her house and in his favorite blanket. |

Coco Coral
 Adopted 01/04/18 Deceased 07/03/25 |
Today our Coco went to dog Heaven. She was my first foster and my first foster failure. She came to my life in 2017 when I needed her the most and was the best companion I could have asked for. Because of her I have fostered and helped find homes to so many other Dachshunds. Because of her I met wonderful people at DREAM Dachshund Rescue, Education & Adoption Mission whom I cherished and are dear fiends in my life. She made me a better person and I’ll be forever grateful for her love and companionship. We’ve always referred to to Coco as “Happy Go Lucky”. She welcomed everyone to her life and every foster we’ve had to our home. We will miss her forever.
Today we celebrate her life as she breaks free to dog heaven and is reunited with her sidekick, Padme. Coco, we love you. You have left a big hole in our heart. I hope you are well, I hope you forgive me for not being around the last few days. You’ll be always on my mind. ❤️ |

Friday Flutterbum "Weenie"
 Adopted 09/09/15 Deceased 06/26/25 |
I put Friday Flutterbum (preferred name Weenie) to sleep this morning at my home with an at home vet. He had end stage kidney disease that showed signs at the end of last month. He got worse rapidly and last week we knew it was the end and scheduled him today. We fought hard, syringe feeding him, IV injecting water under his skin here at home and working hard to make sure he was comfortable and loved. These past two days he was going rapidly and when the vet showed up he went fast and peacefully surrounded by those who love him.
We adopted him on 9/9/2015 in Texas. He moved with us to Virginia and then on to New Hampshire where he lived the last 6 years of his life. |
|
Darby Doublet
 Adopted 12/22/14 Deceased 06/25/25 |
I wanted to let you know that we lost our Darby on June 25th after a 3 year battle with a liver tumor. He was a little trouper right until the end. He hadn't been able to chase his beloved yellow tennis ball (yes, he preferred the yellow ones) for a few years. We think he was about 17 years old so he had had a good long life. The poor guy had lost several of his "brothers" in his short 10 years with us but he soldiered on and loved life. |
|
Lady Loveland
 Deceased 06/22/25 |
Lady started acting strangely on Thursday. Her head was tilted, and she was shaking. We initially thought she had vertigo due to an ear infection, but she didn't respond to medication, and started going downhill. She could no longer hold her head up and she quit eating. Our vet suspected a brain tumor. We didn't want her to suffer and made the difficult decision to help her to Rainbow Bridge. Rest in peace, sweet girl. |
|
Count Choco Latte "Marshall"
 Adopted 11/24/13 Deceased 05/31/25 |
With the heaviest hearts, we had to let Marshall cross the Rainbow Bridge at the end of May. We were so lucky to have had him for nearly 12 years. In 2013, when we went looking for a companion for Lily (our beagle), we knew he was the ONE when he came running to us right away with a Kong in his mouth, ready to play. Little did we know his little spirit would just keep going like the Energizer Bunny.
He brought us so much love and joy and hilarious memories. Whether it was using his ramp or the couch as a launch pad to take a leap onto Lily; or the fact that you always needed to make sure he wasn't burrowed under a blanket or the pillows on the couch before sitting down. Our little man had made all of our moves with us, from Baton Rouge to Oklahoma City to Pittsburgh to Houston and then his maiden voyage in an airplane to Guyana, South America.
He was always "Big" man in charge. He was so loved everywhere he went. We know time heals all wounds, but he will forever live on in our hearts.
We will miss you Buddy. |

Shotsy Swiss "Gino"
 Adopted 02/19/22 Deceased 05/20/25 |
Sweet Gino was adopted in 2022, but was recently returned when he was started exhibiting signs of senility (incontinence, putting himself into corners, barking at night). His original foster happily took him back, and he had been doing really well until recently, when he stopped eating. It turned out he was in kidney failure and was suffering, so the vet recommended letting him go. Gino's foster stayed with him until the end to say her final good-byes. Rest in peace, little Gino. Sweet dreams over Rainbow Bridge. |

Gabby Glitter "Luna Licorice"
 Adopted 01/03/15 Deceased 05/10/25 |
Luna crossed the rainbow bridge this afternoon. 🌈🩷
Yesterday we had a “Yes Day” for Luna - we did all of the things she knew and loved as well as explored the things she always wanted to try. She met some new friends, saw some old friends, visited both familiar and new places, and tried all of the food she would beg to have. We went to her favorite park, she had a small vanilla ice cream cone, and she even had brisket for dinner. Luna went to bed a happy girl. I am glad I was able to pour all of the love she’s given me into her last day. She is my soul dog forever and ever.
I will never forget the day I met Luna. She ran up to me, jumped into my lap, and started giving me kisses. I knew I had to take her home with me that day. Luna chose me. She has been the most loyal companion I have ever known. We spent 10 beautiful years together. Luna gave me the sweetest, fiercest, and most loyal love I have ever known. She taught me so much in our time together. I miss her so much already, but now she is reunited with Charlie and they get to roam all of the grassy areas on the other side of the rainbow bridge, eat all of the treats, and play with all of the lamb chop toys together. 🩷 |

Ginger Gladiola
 Adopted 07/03/13 Deceased 04/15/25 |
My sweet diva girl, Ginger. I miss her, like my others, so much. She continued to play a big part for DREAM. She earned a lot of money for kisses, and participated in lots of the rescue events (kids loved her). She loved for you to throw her ball over and over and over again. I think she had my mother caught in a trance throwing her ball one evening. Her first rescuer was Judy Dietrich. Judy got her name to give her up since the kids were being mean to her and they kept her in a crate all the time. Sadly Ms. Judy passed away herself last February. I have a closet full of her dresses made by a friend in Alabama. I hope to have another sweetheart to fill those. We matched at the "Dach Around the Clock" event!! |
|
Trisha Dietrich "Trixie"
 Adopted 11/21/14 Deceased 03/28/25 |
Trisha Dietrich (we renamed her Trixie) crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday. She developed a large mass on her lung, larger than her heart, that was affecting her breathing. She fought as hard as she could.
We had her for 10 years and enjoyed all the time that we had with her. She was a very spunky little girl and such a joy to have around. She will be truly missed. |

Charlie passed away in his sleep today. His little body couldn’t handle it anymore. His heart murmur & kidney failure made him very uncomfortable this last week. I’m just happy he was able to experience a yard in our new house. He got to explore, roam around and sunbathe. |

My family and I loved you the first time we saw you. You and your best Buddy Oliver were the most peaceful, loving, smart doggies 🥰 we ever had. Always so gentle, patient and sweet. You always put a smile on our faces. We miss you coming up to the couch standing on your back legs scratching our legs so you could be picked up to sit next to us. Sweet loving lap doggie. We’ll always cherish the 7 years we got to spend with you. Miss you going to the track with us and watching you follow us around it. We love you and will forever miss you 😔. Til we meet again!!! Patience Pendleton "Lady"
 Adopted 05/30/14 Deceased 01/16/25 |
I adopted my precious Lady(bug), formerly Patience Pendleton, in May of 2014. It is with an immensely broken heart that I inform you she crossed the Rainbow Bridge last night at 10:15 due to kidney complications. Our hearts our shattered.
She was the most amazing companion I could have ever imagined. She was by my side through so many life changing events - some incredibly happy highs, and some devastating lows. I wanted to thank DREAM and her amazing foster Ms. Dora for allowing me to be Lady's Mom. She got to spend a few years with her very energetic little sister Aphrodite and my husband. It was a happy change after being the only dog for so long, and I do think it made her young again.
She was my soul dog. I don't have adequate words to say how much I love/loved her and how dearly she will be missed. |
