Lucien Lebkuchen
"Scooby Deux"

Adopted 07/03/25

In early November 2024 we viewed a posting on Dream Dachshund about a dog in much need of a foster family. We contacted them to see if we could foster Lucien through the holidays. Excited and nervous, we went to the veterinarian clinic to pick him up and utter disbelief was seeing him for the first time! We were in stunned silence, but Lucien came out and greeted us like we were his favorite people along with the entire staff (who were already crazy about him). I told Scott on the way home that I had no intentions of returning him….he was ours. Scott agreed and said, “I know that.”

Scooby Deux, formally Lucien, along with our four other dachshunds, Duchesse, Vivi, Lily, and CoCo have completed our family. Yes, he has been through a lot…no hair except his ears, medicated baths, many medications, major dental issues (20 teeth removed) as well as his eye. No matter what he’s endured he is the happiest dog we’ve ever had in our home. And….you’ve never seen a more handsome fellow. We love him and are thankful for every moment he is ours.

Mena Mahalo

Adopted 06/13/25

I wanted to give an update on Mena. She has been adjusting very well. I think she understands now this is her home and we are her family. The potty accidents in the house have decreased tremendously and she has adjusted to the same routine Dahlia follows. She plays with my husband. She has met my parents and their 3 dogs twice. We go on long walks around the lakes in the neighborhood. She loves chasing rabbits. We are very happy with how far she has come in such a short time.

9/22/25 Update:

It's been a while since I had the chance to update you about Jordi! He's LOVING his new life in Spain. My parents have a big fenced yard and he and Charlie play there as much as they want. On top of that, we go to the family farm 3-4 times a week, where he's friends with the family's dogs: Bobby (mutt), Rait (Border Collie), Jot (Greyhound) and sometimes Oopeth (she's an adorable 6yo wire hair dachshund). We've been on multiple hiking day trips and we've also traveled for a few days to France (twice now) and they did great. They are traveled pups now!!

Of course, Charlie and Jordi love each other so much, they are attached to the hip. Also, since we are living with my parents and my dad is retired, they are barely ever alone more than 1h at a time (and at most 2h on a given day, maybe a total of 5h/week). They don't mind being left alone together at the house at all, they just go to sleep. It's lovely to see them so cool about it. Since early September we've started obedience lessons and Jordi is thriving. Overall, I believe they are happy with the move and I feel so grateful it all worked out so well.

Last thing that you'll see in the pictures too, my mom just sewed them some PJs for when they go in the garden early in the morning, since temperature will start to drop soon (winter is the low 40s here) and Jordi is a summer lover, he's always looking for the sunny spot or burrowing under layers of blankets.

As always, eternally grateful to you for trusting Charlie and me to take good care of Jordi. He couldn't be a better little brother to her and grandchild to my parents. He's the best companion I could've ever hoped for. Thanks for making my life so much better.

Wanted to give you a update on Luna. She has adjusted really well and loves to travel, but she's still a little uneasy with new people and noises. She has trained us for what she wants. She's very smart. Thanks again for giving us such precious puppy.

We sadly had to let Queen go today. She was in kidney failure again despite having weekly fluids. But she had a great day laying in the sun before her appointment.

Bambi Bagel

Adopted 01/09/25
Deceased 03/16/26

Bambi Bagel passed away early this morning. We took her to the vet Saturday morning and she had congestive heart failure and fluid in her lungs. They tried some medication but it continued to worsen the last 48 hrs. We just celebrated her 15th birthday this month. She was very well loved and very happy this last year. We are very glad that we had time with her.
