Fluffy Kitty Lawless

Adopted from DRoH as "Mick Dundee" August 2, 2012
Rainbow Bridge December 19, 2023

Kitty is creating mischief up in heaven now. He was a master digger and escape artist extraordinaire. He never met a food bin he couldn’t open or a laundry basket he didn’t pee on.🥲

Michael adopted him for our 15th wedding anniversary in 2012. He was a handful, but such a gorgeous dog. RIP Fluffy Kitty. 🌈

Maudie Howe

Adopted from DRoH as "Lottie" February 2, 2011
Rainbow Bridge November 27, 2023

We sent precious Maudie to heaven this morning. She let us know it was time. She was so tired. We did have a good Thanksgiving with her in Austin. She ate turkey and dressing and joined the bonfire, cozy inside my jacket. Alex is wrecked but knew it was the kindest way to say goodbye. Alex is now "Dr. Howe" because Maudie got him through veterinary school.

She was an incredible gift to our family. Thanks for the lifetime of memories, fearless little lioness, our beloved Maudie.

Bandit Spring

Adopted June 25, 2007 (DRoH)
Rainbow Bridge August 10, 2023

I had to have Bandit put to sleep this morning. He had started having seizures, among other things. I've never cried so hard in my life. My heart is broken.

Cocoa, aka Godiva, passed during the night. I knew this might happen. She had been deteriorating for several months. Heartbroken.

"Button" Lawless

Adopted 2012 (DRoH)
Rainbow Bridge January 3, 2023

Button was rescued from a shelter when he was around 4 years of age. He was a beautiful red dapple standard dachshund, just as gentle as could be. He came into rescue heart worm positive, with several scars on his body, and a couple ribs that had likely been broken and healed on their own causing him to have an indention on one side. He gained another scar on his face when he and 3 other dogs cornered a water moccasin behind a bag of potting soil and they all got bitten! After an expensive night at the ER vet, thankfully everyone was fine the next day but Button bore the brunt of the first most venomous bite. Like most dachshunds, he loved to squirrel hunt, run the fenceline barking at our neighbor’s dogs and would 10/10 go after a snake again!

Button spent his golden years walking around the pasture just sniffing away, tail wagging the whole time it was just so sweet to see him living his best life. After a 2 year long battle with Congestive Heart Failure, the medicine was no longer effective and we made the difficult decision to let him run free. I bundled him up in his comfy dog bed, covered with a blanket for the very short drive to our vet. Once in the room, he stretched out laying his head on Michael’s lap to let him know it was definitely time. We had him almost 11 years, so we have a lot of wonderful memories and funny Button stories to tell. He will be truly missed!
