|Update on Beau, his foster mom calls him Blue. He has been a DREAM dog for over a year now due to serious behavior issues, but he has improved in so many areas! Poor Blue previously lived in a home where kids banged on his crate and stuck fingers through it to torment and tease him. He was also a pet that spent too much time in his crate because of how busy the adults were with caring for their kids, and the wife wasn't really a fan of having the dogs. She demanded they get rid of them when they were days away from having their 3rd child. Earlier this year Blue suffered a bulging disc (IVDD) and had to have emergency back surgery. He literally walked out of the vet's office 3 days later and has continued to recover with flying colors! He was an excellent patient and all the techs and people who handled him had no issues with him being unfriendly or nipping! He is still food aggressive, but who can blame him he came to us looking like a little skeleton, you could see all the bones in his body. The family who bought him from a breeder as a puppy had no business ever being pet owners. He deserves a second chance to have a family who will love him and provide all the things that make a dog feel safe and secure.|
This little man is Beau Berlin. Beau and his sibling Stella were both surrendered to DREAM at the end of last year. The reason they were given up, was because their owners had a new baby on the way along with two toddlers already in the home, that made being "normal Dachsies" difficult for Beau and Stella. Beau is 5 years old, and sadly, quite fearful of new people. He needs a family in a calm home environment, with experienced Dachshund lovers and no small children.
