Foster mom update:
Zeke has a very loving personality, he demonstrates it by giving kisses and wanting to get belly rubs. He loves to snuggle under the bed covers and likes his crate. Meal time would probably be his favorite time of the day , next to sleeping in our bed at night. He absolutely goes crazy for food, like many dachshunds do. Bed time is his second favorite part of the day. He loves to sleep pressed up by your side, buried under the covers. Although Zeke is also very comfortable in his crate and considers that his comfy little man cave! When he is inside his crate he doesn't like to be grabbed at or surprised, it's best to let him come out on his own, or lure him out with a treat reward. The perfect parent will learn to avoid these situations and will simply let him come out of his crate when he is ready. Zeke is also house trained and he loves playing with his dachshund brothers and sisters, however he is not as good with larger dogs as he feels threatened. Zeke would make a great pet for an experienced dachshund owner, who has a good understanding of the breed and their territorial, but very loving and loyal nature.
Zeke's aging owners were no longer able to care for him so they were forced to tether him outside during the day and crate him at night. While he was very much loved, he was just too active for his owner, who sadly is legally blind and her husband is in a wheelchair. So out of love for their sweet boy, they needed to find him a more compatible environment. Through a network of remarkable rescuers, Zeke became a DREAM Dachsie, and we plan to find that perfect forever home for him. He is only 7 years old, sporting a beautiful brindle coat, and loves to play with his toys. He’s good with other dogs and older kids too. He needs a forever home where he can be active, with a secure yard, where he can run and play. He’s getting his check up, being neutered and having his dental done now, but he’ll be ready for a new foster and/or forever family in a matter of days.
