Trixie Tribute is a 9-year old mini dachshund. She is super cute and tiny, but barks at strangers and she is very slow to warm up to people. We are currently working on getting her comfortable with strangers, as she is very fearful. It took about a week for her to warm up to her foster mom (so she could pet her on the nose, then another two-three weeks before Trixie let her foster mom pick her up). She has a fearful nature, but lives with many other dogs currently, and does well with other pets. We do not think she would do well with children.

Anyone who adopts her would need to be prepared to leave her completely alone for a 2-3 weeks to give her time to come around and adapt to her new environment. She needs her space and a back yard, as one of her favorite things to do is run around the backyard (she has done it so much she made a little path). She would not be good for taking places, or for someone who has a lot of visitors. She does seem to be potty trained, and is able to stay out (not crated) when her foster parents leave the home. She is able to use a doggie door, and doesn’t exhibit any signs of separation anxiety. Hopefully the right adopter will come along, who can give Trixie the space she needs and work to ease her fearfulness!
